On the contrary Air India is one of the best airlines now and I fly air India all the time .
You might not find young women in tight skirts as the cabin crew but the service of the middle aged Air-India crew is very good.
They have spanking new 777's with wide seats and latest entertainment systems. Tickets are real cheap and round trip to India can be as low as $650 to $700 with taxes per person . When flights are empty I can streach on 3 seats and sleep . JFK to Mumbai nonstop is only 13 hours , sometimes done in 12 also , which is what I spend sometimes when I travel from NYC to LA . On the contrary if you go through Europe it takes like 26 hours and immigration and all the hassle in London/Frankfurt and unecessary waste of time .Air India meals are Indian and not sphagetti and pasta like the western airlines( not to hurt the sentiments of the pasta , spagetti lovers ).
The staff is generous and many times I have been offerred multiple meals on the airline when they see that a person my size ( 6' 1) has to survive on a small morsel like that . :D. Drinks when asked are served generously.
The staff is very good and polite and last but not the least , it is my national airline .

Off course the airline has been affected because of some mismanagement and I consider the Indian government to be responsible for the same not the airline staff , cabin crew and pilots .

Agreed 100% with you. I had traveled to India by British Airways, Cathay pacific, Gulf and Air India ( thrice ) and I can say the best service is from AI compared to all others. I had once traveled with BA with my 1 year old son and had some horrific experience with them. Again had to travel when he is 1 year 7 months old in Air India. Experience with AI was many times better compared to BA. Being all hostess are Indian they understand and take things personally to help you out of situation where as ALL other airlines go by rules and had no sympathy to its passenger problems.

    AIR INDIA ROCKS.

Thank you all for the quick and helpful replies.

My current employer has assured me that they will not revoke my LC or I-140. It is a huge company and I think it will stick to its word. It will not have any use for the LC, I-140 anyway as the whole group was laid off and the product moved to India.

So, it seems that if I transfer to company B they will be able to file for an H1 extension beyond 6 years based on I-140 approved with company A. I can then start my GC process with B again while keeping my old priority date.

Once again, all your replies were immensely helpful.

    Thanks
Good Luck, many of us gone thru this but this retro making the things worse.

As mentioned by rb_248 also i am repeating again
What kind of job are you looking for? ( Main skillset )
Where are you located now ??
Are you willing to move ??

Post the details May be someone at IV could help you.

    On the side note,
There are lot of debates, bickering , angry , jolly, sad comments in the other threads or say in IV , but when I saw something like this encouraging responses , i feel so happy. Thanks folks.

It is amusing to see that there are quite a few people who want the very door closed that they used to enter. It is even more amusing to see that the fault is always someone elses. It is similar to all the people who are opposed to immigration because it is someone elses fault that they are losing their job. Down right funny :p.

We need to focus on solving our problems without blaming others for our problems. Because once we go down that lane, we are no better than anyone from NumbersUSA or any other organization/ people who are against immigration. It is OK if we do not support increasing H1B - but saying that the H1B program needs to shutdown is not correct. I am sure that one can reason in the same breath that the EB3 category needs to be eliminated so that retrogression can truely be eliminated

I am proposing that it is better to completely eleminate EB3 than
having some kind of false promise of GC.
I know lots of IT guys from India fall for the Green card promise form employers even now (they say I applied and I should get in 2 years or so..
what should I say to those people)

By the way I am not "really" asking for H1B to be shut down. I am saying H1B
in its current form should be shut down. Obviously when the time comes
to actually shut it down, Corp America will panic and fix the problems.
In US, if Corp America really wants they WILL get it done.
In a presidencial election, a canadiate needs close to 100 million.
A senator needs around 2 million for an election.

Congressmen need lesser money and thats why they are more listening to local population (and oppose any H1B /EB etc) and can afford to oppose Corp America.

End 2006 when GOP Congress was trying to pass a rule
making illegal a felony and also a fine 50000$ per illigeal worker employer
employed it was the american chamber of commerce that took out the
big guns and ofcourse their surrogates/supporters orgaised those
    Marches in April 2006.

However if GOP were to truly pander to their base they would have passed
that ( anyway illegals dont vote much)

This is a public and OPEN forum,
Insulting TheOmbudsman it's just not acceptable, I though we were all H1B educated people who are open to discussion, not just a child crying and insulting as soon as someone contradicts you.

I know many people who stopped comming to this forum (contributing), they just get tired of those insults. If someone has a different opinion, is immediately insulted

I like the idea of fasting.

It will be very effective if we can do it in all the states. Does not require travel or much of logistics. The state chapters can use it as a campaign to recruit additional members too.

never worked for "employer x" after H1 transfer, perhaps you are out of status. What is your lawyer saying? You never transferred H1 back to emplyer#2?

I have maintained valid status with my current employer (Employer #2). Employer #2 sponsored H1B was valid until 2008, then I used EAD. I have always maintained valid status. My only concern is I never worked for 'Employer X'.

Would you still see this as an issue...?

    Thanks for the response.

In real life, when resources become less and scarce - even blood relatives fight and kill each other. We here don't even know each other.

The only solution is to create more resources to avoid fighting - Please donate for advocacy days and hopefully we won't need to be in the mess any longer.

I was Dem leaning too, and I liked Hillary. But Obama has in no way been running the honorable campaign. He is using others to do his dirty job, if you think otherwise, you too have been sold on the propaganda of the left.

when obama made a sexist remark, what did the press do? Nothing. Let us see what happens if his opposition makes a even a hint of racist remark. I am sure then that the republican campaign will be pounded by every media outlet in the country.

Again, not to say I like republican ideology, I am very left leaning in my thoughts and actions. However at this time, I see that majority of the left is leaning towards Obama just for the sake of leaning towards left, and not on the merits of candidacy. And such thing is bad for everyone concerned (even the world, because like it on not, what happens in USA doesn't just stay in USA) -- Obama has already demonstrated that he is nothing but a political opportunist. His comments on Israel (I liked his statement, but not his intention) and the eventual recanting, and among many other examples, shows that he is just unqualified to be the President.

And for the records, McCain in not running for the job just based on the fact that he was shot down. He has considerable amount of experience working in the Senate and knowledge of world issues, and American issues too.

Give me a break. McCain is running a honorable campaign and Obama is running a dishonoSrable campaign. Can you give me an example close to the "teaching sex to kinder garden" sleazy ad from McCain camp?
What is the sexiest remark? Can you explain? Media pounding on Republican? Oh yeah we saw them pounding on Bush when he ran in 2004. I remember how the media ran stories of kerry shot himself in the foot to become president. And all those pundits asking 'who do you want to have beer with' stupid questions. And I remember the left leaning media pounding on the non issue pastor wright.
Obama is a political opportunist while McCain is a saint? Do you know who said this "I didn't decide to run for president to start a national crusade for the political reforms I believed in or to run a campaign as if it were some grand act of patriotism. In truth, I wanted to be president because it had become my ambition to become president. I was sixty-two years old when I made the decision, and I thought it was my one shot at the prize". John McCain. And what does he say now "Even in retrospect, he would choose the path of retreat and failure for America over the path of success and victory. Behind all of these claims and positions by Senator Obama lies the ambition to be president. What’s missing is the judgment to be commander in chief." He is your saint?
Saint or no saint, we don't want 'drill baby drill" guys and "God is running this war" nuts in the white house. You will have more problems in the economy and useless debates on abortions. We need to push them in the right direction and demand them they carry through their promises. We may not have the right to vote, but the outcome of this election will impact us and around the world.

Thanks for the post. However I read testimony that said more than 80% of EB visas have been used up. That leaves only 28k (20% of 140k) at most as spill over for Fiscal 2008. Thoughts?

My understanding is they wait until last quarter to give the spill over. But this time they started giving the numbers in 3rd quarter itself. Keep in mind EB1 is current and Eb2 except I and C is still current.

    I expect to see at least 20k visa's issued to EB2 I and C.
