yes, try calling the 1800 number and go to the address change, there you will be able to talk to the IO and they will ask you what issue you have (they will not ask for address change)..you can explain your scenario to him/her.

I don't want to go into the details behind how justifiable my frustration felt at the time - those are facts that I can do nothing about.
So I gave up and quickly made plans to return to our homeland. I was lucky to have a moment of clarity about a month before pulling any triggers because shortly thereafter, I read Lance Armstrong's book - "It's Not About the Bike". "Man's Search for Meaning" by Viktor Frankl was another very inspring work for me. I have since read many books on similar subjects - some good and some not so good - but more importantly, I now believe, with all my heart, that how I feel is entirely up to me. Not only is it just up to me, I am 100% accountable for it.
I am not saying you shouldn't express your feelings or seek the comfort of friends when you want to. I am simply offering some details around what works for me and why I am not as frustrated as I once was.
My green card "struggle" - if you can call it that - no longer impedes my ability to enjoy this moment. There are more people-including children-facing far more significant challenges across all walks of life. I accept my green card situation for what it is. I work everyday on what I ought to be doing and strive to leave doubt and worry behind (per Huxley's age old advice). This works for me.
I would love nothing more for it to work for everyone.

IV does not need a change in leadership. We have a very effective leadership that is working hard behind the scenes to bring about a positive change to the community. If we have not been noticing major changes, it's due to the passive (chaltha hai chalne do) nature of our community, who don't even lift a finger to swat a fly, until and unless they receive a RFE/NOID/Rejection letter from the USCIS.
No change in leadership will bring about any change, unless the community changes it's mentality, raises above narcissism, and becomes actively involved in the movement. This requires a "person with the face", a person ready to expose himself as a leader of the movement to motivate others; subjecting himself/herself to death threats (and other threats) from anti-immigrant goons like ITGrunt and others. Our fearless Aman Kapoor has made that bold sacrifice for the ungrateful community which blames him for all our collective failures.
So before proposing a change in leadership, I request Mr. Bawa to post his personal picture in the IV profile and/or publish a YouTube video of his ideas for the movement ( just like Aman's video on Immigration Voice). I can't vote for a faceless leader hiding behind anonymity. I need a real life person with real ideas. Do we have such New fearless leaders in our community?

Landed in Feb 2000 ....
1. 1st employer cheated me on GC-Labor in 2003 - sold/substituted my labor to some lucky fellow.
2. 2nd employer filed GC-Labor in Mar 05 (really) but silently did it in in EB3 it took 2 yrs for Labor and almost 2 yrs for I-140 in Jan 2009 and by that time recession has hit us.
3. 3rd employer trying a EB2 upgrade by a new PERM Labor in Dec 2010 - the employer seems better than 1 and 2 but don't know until i get it at hand :)
Why don't you create a poll for this?. That will be easier.

You need to chill out dude. I do not see anything wrong. Whats wrong in analyzing and preparing yourself for future. I have plans to travel in 3 months.After looking at this thread I think it might take few more months. I think this is a valuable thread.

I happen to be a freelance writer (not a journalist). In response to this thread, I have penned a 2,700 word commentary on the current challenges titled "The Plight of Promise". In order to beef it up with some compelling statistics, can 5 or 6 people respond to this thread with anonymized details of their specific circumstances and how they are suffering. Myself (primary applicant) and my spouse are on h1 with EADs. If spouse starts a company(issue checks and do all admin work) and still maintain her h1 with old employer, will it invalidate her h1 just because she used EAD? Reason for asking is if some thing goes wrong with 485, can she fall back on h1?

I think it is time to write to Senators and Congressmen about the DREAM Act. Please see the post below that the Act is being re-introduced. It is under the thread "Alert from AILA for Dream Act Support". We should make sure that it is appplied to all children, including documented. As it last stood in CIR, the DREAM Act applied to only undocumented children.
I am a legal skilled immigrant, came here in 1995, and am still in line for GC. My son aged-out 3 years ago, and daughter will age-out in a month. Both of them would be on path to GC and citizenship under the DREAM Act....only if they had come here as undocumented. The DREAM Act allows the benefit till age 30, whereas legal dependants age-out at 21. Why this discrimination against legal entrants?
I am planning to send emails to as many senators as possible over the weekend.

However, the reason is that the most skilled graduates from India (and China) do not stick around for long there, and are actually to be found here! Without checking the raw data it is impossible to comment on Mr Wadhwa's assertion regarding ease of filling positions in US vs India/China. (For instance, does his data on US companies include positions (in US) filled by immigrants or does it include only positions filled by US born citizens?)

Because all foreign students would need H1 to work here, just the same as a student in a Indian/Chinese university. To avoid 'double counting' basically) So how do we compare apples to apples? How do we compare "number of good engineers in US" vs "number of good engineers in China/India"? It is very hard to do that via a survey, if not impossible. The best survey is observing the "invisible hand" of the market: If good research is done in India/China, while simultaneously, immigrants from there have a had a huge role to play in Silicon Valley's success, that tells you something, does it not?

40 (2) PENDING AND APPROVED PETITIONS AND APPLICATIONS.—Petitions
41 for an employment-based visa filed for classification under
42 section 203(b)(1), (2), or (3) of the Immigration and Nationality
43 Act (as such provisions existed prior to the enactment of this
44 section) that were filed prior to the date of the introduction of

1 the [Insert title of Act] and were pending or approved at the
2 time of the effective date of this section, shall be treated as if
3 such provision remained effective and an approved petition may
4 serve as the basis for issuance of an immigrant visa. Aliens with
5 applications for a labor certification pursuant to section
6 212(a)(5)(A) of the Immigration and Nationality Act shall
7 preserve the immigrant visa priority date accorded by the date
8 of filing of such labor certification application.

The original word is "enactment date", which would be the date the bill is signed into law. The effective date will be oct, 2008.
So people who didn't get their 140 through before the president signs the bill would be screwed?
