HSBC has rejected my refinance application because neither I hold a valid H1B nor a GC. They are rejecting, if you are in AOS not have one of the above docs. BEWARE. Don't loose time and money trying with this bank, if you are in this situation. I heard some success stories, with other banks though. Good luck.

IV has had its first big success this year and we should all be proud of what we can all do. We worked hard and left no stone unturned to get this relief for our members. During the last few days there has been some movement on the National Defense Authorization Act and work on DREAM and SKIL provisions. While we were fully focused on the 485 relief, we did not lose sight of the developments. We have built a positive momentum and have been getting positive signals from key lawmakers. It is now upto us how we can seize the opportunity and focus on the lobbying efforts on legislative front. After seeing the overwhelming support of our members we are also encouraged to move ahead with full steam and explore the possibility of our provisions in the upcoming legislative activities. The failure of CIR and the political climate against immigration are making the task difficult but not impossible.

Not a single penny has been reimbursed to him for his trips to DC, food and stay in DC or car rental in DC. He even risked his job and went to DC on unpaid leave at critical times because lobbying was important for getting our work done. We in the core team know this and when we see the kind of contributions we get from members, we feel disappointed that our efforts are not valued. When we started the $20 contributions people felt $20 was too high and wanted $10 per month or less. You pay the dues, you get benefits.
Just like any other organization, since charitable donations are not enough to sustain an organization where the end-goal isn't really charity, imho.
As far as code and prod is concerned, IV itself is not PROD as an organization just yet. We're a loosely-knit community of folks who want to work towards a common goal for out own benefit.
If 25,000 or whatever number we're at pay/contribute/donate (whatever you want to call it) 20/50/100 $/year for "membership", we'll have a better shot at going "PROD", sustaining the infrastructure and the spirit.. and perhaps achieve our goals, imo again. :)

If you need solutions to your problems, you need to act as professionally as possible. Please stop throwing tantrums and also mind your P's and Q's when you utter expletives against the USCIS. Would you be brave enough, if not foolhardy enough, to reproduce whatever you've said in your threads here in a separate letter and send it out to the USCIS? Trust me, you'll not, since you'll act politely and courteously to make out your case. Decorous behaviour is called for when dealing with pertinent issues in the IV forum.

Well, if they wasted more than 1,000 visas, I am going to write and call everyone on my list. Don't tell me they can't manage to appove 140K visas a year, or they are overloaded with work - USCIS approves a total of more than 1M green cards a year, so let's not pretend they do not have the capacity.

If you really think then there is a 'conflict of interest' between an applicant and an attorney. If you looks at this way, attorneys do get paid for filling of H1B extensions. isn't it? I do not say that attorneys are bad and do this on purpose, but think about all possibilities. It really depends on individual. Thoughts? :(

It will be a good chance to make some sensible calls, but requesting to make a limited number of calls with clairty in questions, probably one at a time
Certainly a good chance (not to miss) so that our concerns can be heard across the country
