IV website service provider has informed that they will be installing new hardware on the core switches that are used by IV servers. As such there is a scheduled down time of up to an hour which will occur on October 24, 2008, sometime between 12 AM CST and 6 AM CST.
As such access to IV website may be intermittently interrupted during this window on 10/24/2008.

My friends received Green cards in 2007. They live abroad, but make regular trips tho the Us to visit family and maintain their GC.
Unfortunaltely, they recently misplaced their green cards. They are planning a trip to the US this month, for which they have received travel letters from the US Embassy abroad.
Would anyone know what the process is afterwords? We know they have to file I-90s to replace their lost GC. Does this have to be done at the port of entry? Or is it done at a local office on reaching their final US destination?
Also, will they be called for a biometric appointment locally or can that be done at a Port of Entry. Can the biometric be done at a location abroad?
If anyone has any info on this, it'd be truly appreciated.

While filling my biographical information form (I-325a) I forgot to add one of my residential address which was in a different city where I stayed only for 2 months. I was wondering will that be a major issue?
I remember this is the address I gave when I got a job and they did a background check on me. If there are any repercussions how do I rectify the solution, can some one please respond?

Hi All,
I applied for my I485 during the July 07 fiasco and also for EAD/AP for me and my wife. I just renewed my H1B for another 3 years and my manager just said that since I have my H1B, I shouldnt renew my EAD/AP when it expires next year since it is quite an expense for the company. My wife is using her EAD for her current job and so that will still be renewed.
Just wanted to find out if there can be any issues if I dont renew just my EAD/AP?
Also after filing for the I485 in July 07, we did our Fingerprinting in Feb 08. We had not received FP notice and had to go through infopass to get FP done. Since then we've not received a renewal for FP again. I believe FP expires in 18 months and we need get it done again. Should I be receiving FP notice for renewal or do I need to go thru infopass again?

I have my H1 filed in 2008. Due to the market situation, I didn't go for H1 stamping and entered US in March 2009 on H4.
I would like to know the steps/process for H4 -> H1 COS.
I know my employer is the best person to answer this. But, the problem is whenever I ask any details, he always tries to abstract the info.
If there are sequence of steps, after which step one is authorized to work? I tried getting the info online, but couldn't . If any of you can give me a pointer or explain the process in detail, it would be very great and helpful.
As per my employer, I can start working in 2 weeks after he initiates the process. I want to make sure that I don't run into any legal issues. Once the employer has initiated the COS process, is there a way one can track the status and also to verify the status after the completion of the process.

I am in AOS with priority date of EB2 Dec 2006. We are moving out of USA due to spouse getting a job outside of USA. If we want to retain our priority date and green card, what are we supposed to do before and after we leave USA?
In case we want to make temporary visits to the USA, do we have to apply for visitor visa? I am assuming that we will not have AP since we are not inside USA. Will we even get a visitor/business visa since we have an immigrant visa which is pending with USCIS?

As long as your company is generating Paystubs you are not outofstatus. but if there is an audit and if INS finds that you have not paid then its will be an problem.

My H1 stamping has expired. I have traveled using AP before. Just wanted to know if anyone traveled back with AP via Brussels?
Email I received from Belgium consulate just says "Indian nationals do not need transit visa". I am sure it means they do not bother about H1/AP as long as you have legal entry for the destination. Just wanted to re-check.

My Lawyer also suggested that we apply Porting PD after the second I 140 gets approved instead of doing it at the time of applying for second I 140.

Both my wife and I are working on H1B visa.
We are landing in Canada for H1B visa renewal.
However, the nvars.com appointment system allows 1 primary applicatnt and then allows to add dependents to that application. Should I add my wife as a dependent or create an independent primary applicant profile for her since she would be requesting an H1 B renewal as well.
If I create an independent primary applicant profile for her, I may not be able to get the same visa date / appointment for both of us.
Please guide.

My wife is on H1B and she couldnt work for the past 6 months. I applied for my I 140 and I 485 during the July fiasco last year and she was not added as my spouse and we got married at a later date.
Since she didnt receive pay for 6 months, I guess she is out of status for these 6 months. So my question is will this have any effect on her GC process when I add her as my spouse to the I 485 application whenever my priority date become current ? I am really worried and dont want to screw up my GC process after a long wait.

New/amended 140, if the LC states correct job requirements (assuming the mistake was made on 140 application).
New LC if old LC states incorrect job requirements.
I have a Masters Degree in the US and the 5 yr experience required for the EB2 also the position requires it; however my lawyer made a mistake and asked for an EB3.
I already received my I-140 and my I-485 was filed at the same time.
What can I do to change to EB2?

This report is about low skilled workers. IV (I think) is about addressing the EB immigration, which is mostly about highly skilled workers. So I don't see how this applies here...
